Luz Carrasco known as “Helvetica” is a mexican illustrator and visual artist who enjoys the glitches of reality, surrealism, eyes, lights and occasional sheet ghosts. Her work is based on a chromatic duality of B&W, use of line-art, interventions and 35mm. Her representations show musical experiences, beauty in everyday life and often emphasize the touch of the “oko” (eye) as an explicit signature.

Where does inspiration comes from?

My inspiration comes from the craziest and strangest dreams I’ve ever had, Probably the result of experiences that my mind transcribes into its own surrealism.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Music is with me at all times and is closely linked to my state of mind. I like the combination of hyperpop and noise, right down to ambient tranquility and analog synths.

Fun fact

Helvetica is a name given to me by a teacher because I used that typeface and she usually asked us to use Arial, but I always preferred Helvetica.
